Agility Learn more about this dog sport

What is agility?

Agility is a sport that is becoming more popular with Dutch Shepherds and their owners, understandable because fun for dog and handler are at the forefront!

With agility, it is a fact that the dog carries out a trail of various obstacles in the prescribed order without error and as quickly as possible. The handler can give the dog directions with voice and gestures while walking the course. However, he may not touch the dog or the obstacles.

The obstacles used in a match are known to dog and handler, but the order in which the obstacles are taken should not be. Depending on the level of the combinations, the judge sets the obstacles to each contest in another challenging sequence. Before commencement of a match, the handlers get a few minutes to explore the trail (without dog).

Agility is based on the equestrian sport. But different from that sport, there is more than just jump or jump in width. The dogs also have to climb obstacles, run through tunnels and swipe between wings.
From the side of the field agility is very nice to watch and it seems sometimes easier than it is! Because the obstacles need to be taken in a different order, it is necessary that the dog can be forwarded well and can follow directions remotely to make the trail faultless and as quickly as possible.

Registration for this event will be open for grades 1, 2 and 3 and will take place on Sunday, May 6, 2018. How the day format will look further depends on the number of participants and will be announced shortly after the closing date.
